| On arrival at Howarth the first engine to
turn up was the British Railways Standard Class 4MT 2-6-4 Tank Engine No 80002.
This later video clip is of the engine approaching Oakworth station. The
incline up to the station means that you can hear the engine well before you
could see it.This station is well preserved with the original gas lamps on the
platform complete with the gas 'mantles' that give the light. I wonder
where you can buy such things today? Click on the bottom left hand arrow button to play the video clip. |

Keighley Station and 80002 departs for Oxenhope with a wonderful blast of steam
from the cylinder cocks, some enthusiastic wheel spins and it's all coupled with
some lovely black smoke. Presumably the fireman acquired a slapped wrist
for that! For more information on these engines visit the Official Website of the 80072 Locomotive Co. Ltd. Read the Andrew Suckling page which is a very informative page. Another excellent collection of photo's from the KVR and other railway pictures can be see at the Steam Train Galleries. Just click on above links to access them. |
