The above video shows Royal Scotsman coaching stock departing from Boat of Garten for Aviemore. Its passengers had already been taken off by coach somewhere for a day out. The Royal Scotsman's visit to Aviemore is included in the :-
Classic: a 720 mile, four-night trip from Edinburgh to Kyle of Lochalsh and back including visits to Strathisla Distillery, Plockton, the Strathspey Railway and Glamis Castle.
If you want to go on a luxury train trip with only a small number of people, this is the way to do it! Visit the Royal Scotsman's web site and check up on "The ultimate luxury train experience".
The 31 Class engine 31327 is based at the Strathspey Railway but in private ownership.  Whilst searching for information on the engine I came across a website devoted to giving information about the constantly changing numbers of stored engines on the rail network as a whole.  It looked an interesting site so here is the link to wnxx.com.  The site notes that on 24 Feb 2007 there were a total of 696 loco's in store.  Some of which will no doubt find their way into private ownership and heritage railways.
