| Thursday 12th July 2007 and GWR 2-6-2 Prairie Tank engine coasts along before stopping at Blue Anchor station, on the 10.15 departure from Minehead. And what a lovely wee place it is. Apart from its original station buildings, signal box and level crossing there is also an excellent cafe along the promenade where I refreshed myself with coffee in between video shoots! | Different day - same place. S & D J R 2-8-0 makes a fine site by the seaside in its blue livery as it sets off for Dunster and Minehead on a very windy afternoon. | ||

| Same place and yet another different day. The unexpected train of the day's videoing saw Class 25 - D7523 'John F Kennedy' pass through Blue Anchor on its way to Minehead with a train of empty flat-beds, a carriage which looks as if it needs a refurbishment, and a guardsvan. Been a long time since I've seen one of those on a train! Click on the link for the BR/Sulzer pages and comprehensive information about the class. |
Looking towards Bishops Lydeard, at
the level crossing end of Blue Anchor Station, is the station building on the
platform where the trains to Minehead depart from. As a
Blue Anchor Holiday
site says:- "West Somerset Railway – take the steam trains as far as Bishop’s Lydeard near Taunton, or to Minehead. Cream tea specials, Gala weekends and loads more". Click the link to book a holiday and watch the trains go by! |

| A familar scene across hundreds of country stations up to the time of the infamous Dr Beeching. The village station next to the level crossing and road, the signal box to control the gates, and the signal to ensure the trains and road traffic are all safe and sound! Plenty of blue sky in Blue Anchor that day! | |||

| A collection of luggage waiting for no one in particular to collect it. Another sight vanished from scenes at our railway stations. | A view of the level crossing and gates from the departure platform for trains to Bishops Lydeard. | ||
